Connect Easy Digital Downloads to Bayarcash

Updated

Bayarcash for Easy Digital Downloads adds Bayarcash to your EDD checkout. Your buyer picks a payment method, pays on the Bayarcash page and comes back to your purchase confirmation page.

To see the plugin at work before you install it, try the live demo.

You choose which methods your buyers see at checkout. The options in Payment Methods are:

Payment method What your buyer pays with
FPX Online Banking FPX online banking
FPX Line of Credit A credit card account through FPX
DuitNow Online Banking/Wallets DuitNow online banking or e-wallet
DuitNow QR Any DuitNow QR banking or e-wallet app
Credit Card Visa or Mastercard
Touch n Go Touch ’n Go eWallet
Boost Wallet and Boost PayFlex Boost e-wallet, or Boost’s pay later
GrabPay and Grab PayLater GrabPay, or PayLater by Grab
ShopeePay ShopeePay
QRIS Online Banking and QRIS Wallet Indonesian online banking or e-wallets
NETS NETS (Singapore)
Alipay, WeChat Pay and PromptPay Alipay, WeChat Pay or PromptPay (Thailand)

Payments are one-off. A method only works if it is also turned on for your Bayarcash portal. See Payment channels.

You need these before you set up the plugin:

  • An approved Bayarcash merchant account.
  • Your Personal Access Token (PAT), API Secret Key and Portal Key. See Find your API keys.
  • Easy Digital Downloads installed and active, with the currency set to Malaysian ringgit (MYR) and a success page set in the EDD page settings.

The plugin is free on WordPress.org as Bayarcash For Easy Digital Downloads. To install it:

  1. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New.
  2. Search for Bayarcash for Easy Digital Downloads and click Install.
  3. Click Activate.

The plugin names your keys a little differently from the merchant dashboard: Token is your Personal Access Token (PAT), and Secret Key is your API Secret Key.

  1. Go to Downloads → Settings → Payments and open the Bayarcash section.
  2. Paste your Personal Access Token into Token. The plugin checks it and shows “PAT Token is valid”. You can also click Verify Token.
  3. Paste your API Secret Key into Secret Key.
  4. Choose your portal in Portal Key. The list fills in once the token is valid.
  5. In Payment Methods, tick the methods your buyers can choose.
  6. Save.

The keys alone do not show Bayarcash at checkout. Turn it on in EDD too:

  1. In Downloads → Settings → Payments, open EDD’s list of payment gateways.
  2. Tick Bayarcash.
  3. Save.

Buyers see it at checkout as Pay with Bayarcash, with a list of the methods you ticked.

The plugin follows EDD’s test mode, and swaps in its own test keys:

  • Test mode on: payments go to the Bayarcash sandbox, using test keys built into the plugin. The keys you entered are not used.
  • Test mode off: payments go to Bayarcash using your own keys.

Turn on EDD’s test mode, buy a product and pay it on the sandbox page. When it works, turn test mode off and make one small real payment to check your own keys.

You do not paste a callback URL into the merchant dashboard. After paying, your buyer returns to your EDD success page. The plugin then asks Bayarcash for the payment result every minute and updates the order, adding an order note each time the status changes.

This check runs on WP-Cron, so your site must be public and WP-Cron must run. See Callbacks and checksum.

Two habits help with Easy Digital Downloads:

  • Always test once with your live keys. Test mode uses the plugin’s own keys, so it does not prove your keys are right.
  • Turn on Debug Mode while you set up. It writes [Bayarcash] lines to the EDD logs, which show exactly why a payment failed.

Common issues

WordPress shows "Bayarcash gateway is active but not fully configured." What is missing?

One of Token, Secret Key or Portal Key is empty. Fill in all three in the Bayarcash section of the EDD payment settings and save. See Find your API keys.

Buyers see "No payment methods available." at checkout.

No box is ticked in Payment Methods. Tick at least one method and save.

Buyers see "Payment error:" followed by a message from Bayarcash.

Bayarcash refused the payment request. Common causes are a wrong key, or a payment method that is not turned on for your portal. Turn on Debug Mode, try again and read the [Bayarcash] lines in the EDD logs. See Why a payment failed.

The buyer paid, but the order is still pending. Why?

The plugin confirms payments by asking Bayarcash every minute through WP-Cron. If your site has little traffic or WP-Cron is off, set up a real cron job so the check runs on time.
