Direct Debit collects money from your customer's bank account on a fixed rhythm: weekly, monthly or yearly. Bayarcash does not offer daily Direct Debit. Before the first deduction, the bank must approve the enrolment.

## Monthly Direct Debit

Use this to know what happens to a customer who pays once a month.

1. Your customer applies to enrol in Direct Debit for monthly payments.
2. The application waits for the bank's approval. This usually takes 3 to 5 days.
3. Once approved, the enrolment is activated.
4. The first deduction is scheduled for the 3rd to the 5th of the month after the month of enrolment.
5. If the first deduction fails, it is tried once more between the 25th and 28th of that same month.

## Weekly Direct Debit

Use this to know what happens to a customer who pays once a week.

1. Your customer applies to enrol in Direct Debit for weekly payments.
2. The application waits for the bank's approval. This usually takes 3 to 5 days.
3. Once approved, the enrolment is activated.
4. The first deduction is on a Friday, two weeks after the enrolment day.
5. After that, a deduction is made every Friday.

## Yearly Direct Debit

A yearly Direct Debit makes one deduction each year. The bank must approve the enrolment first, the same as for weekly and monthly. The deduction date follows the e-Mandate.

{/* TODO Hanny: yearly deduction day */}

## Follow each deduction

Each enrolment and deduction appears in [Direct Debit transactions](/direct-debit-transactions/). The agreement itself is in the [e-Mandate list](/e-mandates/).

## Recurring payments in your shop

If you sell subscriptions or recurring donations, the plugin sets Direct Debit up for your customer. See [WooCommerce](/woocommerce/) and [GiveWP](/givewp/). Developers can start an enrolment through the API: see [Developers](/developers/) and the [API reference](https://api-reference.bayarcash.com).

## Common issues

### My customer enrolled today. Why has nothing been deducted?

The bank has to approve the enrolment first, which usually takes 3 to 5 days. The first deduction comes after that, on the dates below.

### A monthly deduction failed. Will it be tried again?

Yes. A failed first monthly deduction is retried once, between the 25th and 28th of the same month.

### Which day are weekly deductions made?

Every Friday. The first one is on the Friday two weeks after the enrolment day.
